Bury Cancer Support Group

Hi all.

Im here once again and today i am writing a blog about Bury cancer support group. This is my story on how i started to go there and how they have helped me. I will also talk about the many treatments that these lovely people offer.

Not to start with i started to go to the group with my father who is ill with cancer. He was going along to the group and as i have him on a wednesday i decided to go long and see what people was doing to help my father.

So i went along one wednesday with him to have a look and was made to feel so welcomed by everyone at the centre.

People spoke to me and would do anything they could to help.

On the 1st week of me saying yes to having a treatment i had to fill in a form and have a little tour of the centre and also have a assesment to say where i was at and to see how i could bnefit from the centre.

I was asked kindly if i wanted a treatment as i was my fathers carer on a wednesday i was entitled to the treatment aswel as the centre provides support for the carers aswel as the sufforers.

I decided to give it a go and started off having natural healing. This was very relaxing and all i had to do was lie down and relax for three quarters of a hour. I came out of the centre feeling a little tired but more relaxed than i was when i went in. I had this for a few more weeks and then stopped as i was having to go to work in the afternoon and didn't want to go there feeling tired.

So on the third week i decided not to have a treatment but as one staff member came available they offered me a taster session in reflexology. I was a little unsure about this as i havevery ticklish feet but i was told they use enough pressure so that it doesn't tickle, so i decided to try it and see for myself.

I was asked to sit in a chair and take off my shoes and socks so i did and the chair was then reclined back so i was in a lay down position on the chair.

All i had to do was lye there and relax so i did this and my feet was touched in different areas that corrispond to different areas of the body. I spoke to the reflexologist during the treatment as he explained exactly what each part of the foot corrisponded to.

After the treatment i felt very realxed once again and then continued to have this treatment every wednesday.

Every week now i feel so welcomed to the centre weather i am with my father or not and i can always find someone to talk to if needed.

I have had reflexology done by many of the reflexologists in the centre and each one does it a little different and i benefit more from certain people.

The centre is defenatly somewhere you could go when you do live with someone with cancer and they could go aswel.

There is a variety of treatments available here are most of them.

  • Boeing technique
  • Reiki
  • Refexology
  • Massage
  • Back massage
  • Indian head massage
  • Natural healing.
  • Meditation
